Detailed Software Specifications
Snatcher is delivered as a SAP transport and a client & server .NET component and is compliant with SAP 4.7, ECC5 and ECC6 and Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 & 8.1 (32bit and 64bit) and MS Server 2003 through to 2012.
Snatcher Client Print Manager
Fast and efficient, Snatcher Client Print Manager (product code SN-CPM) is an ideal localised solution for quick batch printing of work orders from IW32/33, IW38 & IW37N. With all the power and flexibility of Snatcher Server Print Manager, the client solution offers unparalleled format support straight out of the box.
Calling a locally connected industry compliant .NET conversion program supporting +50 file types, SAP form output and selected attachments are quickly processed, converted to PDF, batched and then printed either to the users default client printer or print previewed in Adobe reader.
Snatcher Client Print Manager supports the conversion of shop papers developed in SAP Script and Smartforms and can be quickly configured per user to print watermarks, headers and page numbers.
Snatcher Server Print Manager
Snatcher Server Print Manager consists of 2 components.
The first component is the SAP installed Snatcher Server Print Manager (product code SN-SPM) which allows operators to select work orders work orders from IW32/33, IW38 & IW37N at different stages of the planning process. Here, list output of all attachments can be chosen to select specific attachment printing and saving of pre-determined attachment printing or the printing directly without list output using pre-saved and default items.
The second component is the Snatcher Print Server (product code SN-PS-XDC). Installed centrally within an organisations server infrastructure it controls the feed and conversion of data from the work order selection and back to the SAP spool for printing.
As a server installation, processing times are exceptionally quick, typically 20 work orders each with 800mb of attachments takes less than 120 seconds to convert all to PDF batch. This all happens in the background so the operator can continue working in SAP uninterrupted.
SAP user account print defaults are used to determine the final SAP printer output. Print files are sent to the SAP spool along with the combined PDF. Depending on the NetWeaver version, the PDF can be viewed directly in the spool and only the appropriate print file is sent to the compatible printer for processing.
There is no requirement to implement any additional SAP interfaces such as the External Document Converter because the Snatcher Print Server takes care of the production of the print data (PostScript and PCL) and PDF as part of the conversion process.
Because printing is controlled in SAP the user and BASIS administration team have complete visibility on print progress or error generation without having to navigate to external systems or screens. The SAP spool is a familiar and comfortable area for users to manage their own data, empowering them to work smarter, faster and cost effectively within the plant maintenance module.
Snatcher Print Server
Snatcher Live-View (product code SN-LVI) is a tool that allows users to view attachments directly from SAP even if they do not have the authoring application installed on their client. Using the same powerful print engine developed for Snatcher Print Manager for the client & server, any of the supported file types can be opened directly in Adobe X for viewing or embedded in SAP as a dynpro screen. Moreover, the Live-View application can run both client side and server side for enhanced access and flexibility.
Snatcher Live-View can be quickly incorporated into business objects where GOS or object links are made to underlying DIR’s. This is very useful, for example, where there are drawings stored against materials, equipment’s and functional locations. Typically in this situation a viewer such as AutoCAD would be required and a license to go with it for each user. But, with Snatcher Live-View no user license is required nor is an underlying authoring application.
